What does it say about our culture when instead of looking like this for Physical Education, we look like this:
REGRESSION.
Among other things, it says that we think women can participate in rough physical activity without their delicate femininity getting damaged so they play soccer instead of ribbon dancing (like my mother and grandmother did in “physical education”). It also means we value the strength of women’s bodies over the cleanliness of their blouses. It’s easy to look graceful and elegant when the world wants you to be a statue.
I am so grateful to have both of you as friends.

I am enamoured by anything from the 40s! I imagine this would have been such an excellent and light-hearted dance class!
